Statement by Aleksey Muratov: Change the World Together's supporters are primarily concerned about the safety of citizens

In order to ensure the safety of Russian citizens, a rally of the International Public Movement Change the World Together's activists scheduled for December 23, in front of the US Embassy in Moscow is postponed to another day.

This was stated by Chairman of the Board of CWT Aleksey Muratov.

Here is full text of the statement:

"A tragic event that occurred this week in the capital of Turkey Ankara – the murder of Russian Ambassador Andrei Karlov, could not fail to affect our plans. We are sympathetic to this tragedy and express our condolences to the family of the deceased diplomat.

CWT activists are also well aware that it is not worth provoking any conflict situations and neglecting those heightened security measures, which are introduced in Moscow, including near the US Embassy. In this regard, we agreed on the need postpone our protest in Moscow at a suitable date.

At the same time, proponents of Change the World Together in Kiev (Ukraine) and Mumbai (India) decided not to abandon the rally on December 23. Let me remind you that this event is timed to the 103rd anniversary of the US Federal Reserve System and also aims to support the president elect Donald Trump.

Following the results of the meetings, the participants are going to make a resolution with their basic requirements and submit them to the US Embassy. Photo and video report about the carried out protests will be provided on our official website”.
