Aleksey Muratov: e-mail moves to blockchain due to frequent cyber attacks

As practice shows, the existing e-mail services are inconvenient and more important are not safe.

That’s why now the question of new systems creating is particularly relevant, and one of them can become a control system with the help of blockchain. This was stated by Chairman of the Board of the International Public Movement Change the World Together Aleksey Muratov

Currently, postal services operators use outdated technology, which has become very vulnerable to increasingly sophisticated actions of hackers. "I would like to remind that after the Yahoo system got through the largest in the history leak of data, it is recommended to all its users to change passwords. However, it turns out that such actions are almost meaningless. Experts warn that very often the change of passwords can result in the opposite effect," Aleksey Muratov said.

Recall that hacking of billion of Yahoo user accounts happened in August 2013. However, it was only announced on December 14, this year. Criminalists are still investigating this huge leak of information.

According to Aleksey Muratov, in order to optimize the e-mail systems and protect the data of user accounts, fundamental changes are needed, especially at the level of technology. "Several startups are already working over this task which are transforming the systems through the technologies of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. For example, the mail system John McAfee Swiftmail is running on on blockchain technology and encryption used by experts protects data by making them useless to intercept," Chairman of the Board of CWT said.

He noted one more decentralized mail system running on blockchain - Cryptamail.
"Since all messages are stored in blockchain, the need for the existence of a central body of storage is eliminating. Therefore, to steal data or even send a request to them is simply nowhere," Aleksey Muratov assured

"Unfortunately, cyber attacks have already come back to normal. However, now is the frequency, scale and consequences of e-mail hacking, and other actions of attackers acquire a large-scale character. The industries need to be optimized quickly and pay attention to more secure technologies such as blockchain," Chairman of the Board of Change the World Together movement r Aleksey Muratov.
