Bitcoin-ATMs enter Georgia

First Bitcoin-ATMs will soon appear in Georgia.

On this stage it is planned to use two ATMs: one at Tbilisi airport, the second – in the city center.

"The idea of placing Bitcoin-ATM appeared recently, and we have already decided to place two ATMs. Now there is a discussion about the legality of our intention and its compliance with the Georgian legislation. If there are no discrepancies, first Bitcoin-ATMs will soon appear in Georgia," Urumashvili said.

According to him, in ATMs it will be possible both to buy cryptocurrency and to cash it.

Because of the growing popularity of Bitcoin in developed countries, the number of ATMs, working with e-currency, is constantly increasing. In particular, recently, Bitcoin ATMs have been installed on the Swiss railway.

In Georgia, despite the fact that there are a number of major centers for mining Bitcoins, cryptocurrency is not particularly popular, including due to the lack of reliable and detailed information on cryptocurrency.

According CoinATMRadar, currently the world uses about 840 Bitcoin-ATM. Most of them – 477 – are in the US. About 23% of the total number is used in Europe.
