Smithsonian Museum includes Bitcoin in world's currency exhibition

The museum opened an exhibition of the National Numismatic Collection “Value of money”, where one of 400 exhibits became Bitcoin.

The exhibition shows how with social development the concept of money has been changing. It begins with the earliest specimens of money and ends at modernity – cryptocurrency.

In total, the exhibition presents 400 objects, including such rarities as the Double Eagle of 1933, a banknote of $100,000 of 1934, Yap Island stones, credit cards, and of course Bitcoin.

Bitcoin is a small section of the exhibition, which describes cryptocurrency and principles of its emissions by the “computer protocol”. History of Bitcoin's exchange rate to the US dollar is also included in the exhibition. Unfortunately, the schedule begins with 2014, which is considered the worst for cryptocurrency. Bitcoin Magazine and a mobile phone are also presented here.

Earlier Bitcoin and blockchain became the topic of creativity of the artist from New Zealand, Simon Denny, who showed his vision of cryptocurrency.
