Students rebelling against “Good school” in Italy

The government reduces education spending. Thousands of students in dozens of Italian cities took to the streets to protest against government policies in education.

The Prime Minister Matteo Renzi’s project “Good school” after long discussions has been approved by the Parliament. But the youth considers reform unfair because its essence is to reduce government spending on education, reports Euronews.

It is referred to different opportunities for the representatives of different social strata, a system where students are not on an equal footing and where incomes are a key factor. In addition, young people are outraged at cost of textbooks and awful state of the schools.

Demonstrations were held in 70 Italian cities. In the capital there were also clashes participants with the police.

Clashes with law enforcement officers began after a group of young people has deviated from the route of procession and tried to go to the Parliament.
