CWT Movement at Blockchain conference in “Digital october”: Aleksey Muratov gives interview to Ruben Fisherman

As Change the World Together develops, the representatives of movement become more visible. In addition to the immediate beginnings of CWT, the activists take part in various events related to cryptocurrencies. One of such events was a major Blockhain & Bitcoin conference held in “Digital october” on April 19, in Moscow. Being at the conference, Chairman of the Board of Change the World Together Aleksey Muratov gave an interview to Ruben Fisherman. During the interview, the interlocutors discussed the prospects of digital economy, Blockchain technology and current development of cryptocurrency.

Aleksey Muratov: If we talk about the short-term prospects, in Russia (I think that in summer) a law will be adopted which regulates the turnover of cryptocurrencies in Russia.

Most likely, this will be the way of licensing of cryptocurrencies exchange because the cryptocurrencies (not to be confused with the HYIPs that hide behind cryptocurrency) are decentralized and it is impossible to regulate them. Therefore, cryptocurrencies exchange will be subject to licensing and thereby – ordering as well as user identification. I think that in summer there will be a statement by Sberbank or the Central Bank about the creation of its national cryptocurrency in Russia.

If we talk about trends in the world, the whole world expects an economic crisis. How much it will be fatal - I do not know. But it certainly will be no less than the one that was in 2008. It is expected in summer, this year will be decisive. Of course, these news and expectations are pushing people, ordinary participants, to study Blockchain and cryptocurrencies more and more.

Ruben Fisherman: I would like to add that at the current moment there is a conflict between all the accelerating transactions and operations (due to the increasing number of them) and the backlog of banks that have evolved from the service body or service infrastructure (mostly due to the pressure of regulator) into the supervisory authority - that is, the accounts are blocked, the transfer of operations slows down that negatively affects the economy and the paying capacity of population. Therefore, maybe I am an idealist but I think that in the short term 3-5 years we expect a completely digital economy, which will be based on the so-called "digital currency" (electronic currencies / digital money). This will make it easier to take into account the large number of players or economic subjects which are not in a very good position on the market now. That is why, I support Aleksey, this is our future and other alternatives are not at least.

I would also like to know, what do you think about Blockchain technology. Why is it now such a "talk of the town" and everyone is chasing it, starting from the states and ending with the Central Bank?

Aleksey Muratov: It is no longer a secret for many people that the existing world financial system is actually a financial pyramid and we are its victims. People, of course, are looking for alternative tools and such an alternative tool can be Blockchain - you do not need to believe an expert’s or regulator’s word. Everyone can verify and check the rules that are laid down. I am sure that the future for Blockchain - that is, for decentralization.

Maybe it will seem fantastic, but in years to come and there will not be any "fiat" money in the world, there will not be banks. There will be only cryptocurrencies which will be quoted among themselves on cryptocurrency exchanges. And each person will choose what cryptocurrency to use. They will have their own profitability, their own mining system - we will come to this.

Today the turnover of cryptocurrency is increasing every day - that is, the timer is started, it can not be stopped. When this happens - it will already depend on our activity as well.

Ruben Fisherman: On a personal note, Aleksey said that blockchain was transparent. I once spoke to a man and when I asked him what blockchain was and he told me three words to me (I really liked them): "It is fast, transparent and secure." That is, the blockchain technology allows you to secure the recording of some transactions/deals with some objects and goods in a chain of blocks that cannot be forged in relation to the specifics of the technology. Therefore, banks, state structures and even commercial organizations pay attention to it. I'm sure again that for several years blockchain will take the leading position on the market and everything will be digitized at the end. Though I still think that there will be Blockchains’ struggle for survival and only the strongest ones will win. What do you think about this?

Aleksey Muratov: There is a common position on many issues. Now, of course, all cryptocurrency users are watching the struggle for Bitcoin, an attempt by China to privatize the most popular decentralized cryptocurrency. Everyone heard about the risks of fork, everyone heard about the rules that China was trying to impose on the entire community of Bitcoin Unlimited.

Where does this lead to? Today, the “proof of work” technology, which is based on many cryptocurrency, is discredited. I mean, blockchain, which is based on work. In fact, there is a mining power race. It has led to the fact that more than half of the mining capacity is located on Chinese territory. This makes it possible for China to impose unilateral rules, which is exactly what is happening right now. If participants are able to follow this path, it will result in three mining pools being in China in a few years that will produce bitcoin and be fully controlled by the state. This is a big blow to decentralization. I am sure that the decentralized cryptocurrency of the new generation will soon emerge, which will be based on the "proof of stake" rather than the "proof of work" technology. We will find out soon enough.

I am sure that the path of blockchain and decentralization is absolutely correct. In the larger community, we will find a way out of this situation and give the world a new financial system. I don't want to make a senseless swop – we have lived for over a hundred years in a dollar-based system where the Emission Centre was in the United States as a Federal Reserve. I do not want to come to a new world financial system, which will be based on Bitcoin and will be controlled by China, and the Emission Centre will be located on Chinese territory. In the age of IT technology, when the speed of information delivery is very high, it's not that easy to deceive the community.

Ruben Fisherman: That is right, ladies and gentlemen. Intrigue thickens around the technology, around Bitcoin. I am impressed with Bitcoin in the sense that this is the “ancestor” and “dinosaur” that wore out a path for many other Altcoins and gave the world the blockchain technology. Moreover, blockchain and Bitcoin are two different phenomena that are associated with a tandem. We will see, but the conference in Moscow showed that, despite the cost of a ticket of 15 000 rubles, 18 000 rubles on the opening day of the conference (which is the Russian average salary per month), there were, by my count, about 500 people. So the industry is developing and it is not the poor people who develop it. There were representatives of “Sberbank”, “Alfa Bank”, the regulator, so you will see other interesting things in the near future.
